MEN AT WORK 6

5-14-11

This picture, taken in mid January 1944 while the Boston was still in Pearl Harbor, shows R. Adm. Thebaud coming aboard to inspect the crew of his new command ship. He is seen here, over the 40mm gun turret, inspecting the detachment of Marines.   The camera is looking aft (rearward) on the starboard side of the ship.   Missing from the picture are the floatplanes, which would have been attached to the catapult cranes on the back of the ship.
