Musings on first names

As I add and edit the sailor database from the USS Boston, I’m sometimes amused at how names have changed over the last 70 years. How many Aloysuis’s or Mortimer’s exist today (OK, even in 1943 those were middle names)? ON board the USS Boston in the 40’s we had first names of Irenee, Allison, Caroll, Shirley, Patsy and Fay on board. It’s interesting that looking at the complete list of first names, someone could probably guess when in history the list was compiled: the 18 year olds in the 1940’s of Cecil, Arthur, Randall, Walter, Stanley, and Vernon are replaced today by Brandon, Aiden, Logan, etc.
